CAC Futures Updates

On Thursday morning, France’s CAC 40 has entered negative territory as investors respond to various earnings reports and corporate developments, while also processing the latest inflation data from the nation. Attention is directed towards developments in geopolitical affairs. The CAC 40 experienced a decline, falling to 8,2890.61 from a previous peak of 8,366.30. It was down 28.70 points or 0.34% at 8,302.70 just moments ago.

Kering and Thales have experienced declines of 3.9% and 3.4%, respectively. Thales experienced a decline after Deutsche Bank downgraded its rating on the stock. LVMH is experiencing a decline of approximately 2.2%, while Capgemini has decreased by 1.7%. TotalEnergies, Renault, Saint Gobain, Stellantis, Vinci, Veolia Environment, Airbus, Eiffage, Accor, ArcelorMittal, Air Liquide, and L’Oreal have experienced declines ranging from 0.6% to 1.25%. Among the gainers, STMicroElectronics, Schneider Electric, and AXA have increased by 1.1 to 1.4%. Societe Generale and Credit Agricole are experiencing an increase of nearly 1% each.

BNP Paribas, Carrefour, Unibail Rodamco, Engie, Euronext, Danone, and EssilorLuxottica have experienced increases ranging from 0.6% to 0.9%. Alstom experienced an increase of approximately 1%. The French rail transport systems company announced that it has secured a contract valued at approximately EUR 500 million to provide 26 additional double-decker trains of the Coradia Max type to the Landesanstalt Schienenfahrzeuge Baden-Wurttemberg. Final data from the statistical office INSEE indicated a slight weakening of inflation in France at the year’s end, as anticipated, largely attributed to a more pronounced decline in energy prices.

The consumer price index recorded a year-over-year increase of 0.8%, subsequent to November’s 0.9% uptick. The statistical office has verified that inflation has moderated to its lowest level since May, at which point the rate stood at 0.7%. EU harmonized inflation decelerated to 0.7 percent, as anticipated, down from 0.8 percent in November. On a monthly basis, both the CPI and the HICP increased by 0.1% each, reversing the prior month’s decline of 0.2%.
