Paris stocks are exhibiting signs of weakness on Wednesday, driven by apprehensions regarding inflated valuations in the technology sector, alongside persistent concerns about the possible repercussions of the Trump administration’s tariff policies. The ongoing contraction in France’s private sector activity is exerting pressure as well. The benchmark CAC 40 experienced a decline of 24.42 points, reflecting a decrease of 0.31%, settling at 8,043.11.
Data indicated that industrial production in France experienced a month-on-month increase of 0.8% in September 2025, recovering from an upwardly revised decline of 0.9% in August and surpassing market expectations of a 0.1% rise. Where as –
- STMicroElectronics, Sanofi, Thales, and Eurofins Scientific have experienced
- declines ranging from 1.4% to 1.6%.
- Societe Generale, Credit Agricole, Dassault Systemes, and L’Oreal have experienced
- declines ranging from 1.1% to 1.3%.
- Airbus, Euronext, LVMH, Safran, Unibail Rodamco, Essilor Luxottica, BNP Paribas,
and Edenred have experienced a decline ranging from 0.3% to 1%.
Bouygues is experiencing an increase of nearly 3%. Bouygues announced an operating profit of €1.81 billion for the first nine months of 2025, surpassing expectations. Net income reached 735 million euros for the nine months ending September 2025, an increase from 687 million euros in the previous year. Saint Gobain is experiencing an increase of 1.3%. Engie, Capgemini, Stellantis, Accor, Pernod Ricard, Total Energies, Orange, and Carrefour have experienced an increase ranging from 0.4% to 0.7%.
Data indicated that the HCOB France Composite PMI for October was adjusted upward to 47.7, in contrast to the preliminary estimate of 46.8, yet it remains below the September figure of 48.1. This represents the 14th consecutive month of decline in private sector activity, with the most significant drop observed since February. In October, the Services PMI registered at 48.0, a decline from September’s 48.5. Conversely, the manufacturing PMI for October was reported at 48.8, reflecting an increase from the previous month’s 48.2.
