London stocks were set to rise at the open on Monday as coronavirus deaths in Europe continued to fall and as investors welcomed lockdown easing.
The FTSE 100 was called to open 55 points higher at 5,990.
CMC Markets analyst David Madden said: “Yesterday, Prime Minister Johnson mapped out plans to loosen the UK’s lockdown restrictions. Workers in construction and manufacturing could potentially recommence work in the near term, so that is likely to boost investment confidence in London-listed stocks.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Compagnie de Saint Gobain SA (PA:SGOB), which rose 4.44% or 1.08 points to trade at 25.40 at the close. Meanwhile, Vinci SA (PA:SGEF) added 3.90% or 2.88 points to end at 76.80 and Legrand SA (PA:LEGD) was up 3.88% or 2.24 points to 59.90 in late trade.
For the day the Dow is trading at 24,331.32 with 1.91% percent or +455.43 point. The S&P 500 is trading at 2,929.80 up with +1.69%percent or +48.61 point. The Nasdaq Composite is trading at 9,121.32 up with +1.58% percent or +141.66 point.
