Weak oil prices, coupled with diminishing concerns regarding Middle East tensions, fuelled optimism in the market, driven by hopes for renewed negotiations between the U.S. and Iran. Oil prices continued their downward trajectory, reaching a one-week low, as tensions in West Asia eased following U.S. President Donald Trump’s assertion that Washington has had “good talks” with Tehran.
Brent crude futures experienced a decline, reaching $82.78 per barrel earlier today. At $83.83, brent experienced a decline of over 2.3% recently. The benchmark CAC 40, which climbed to 8,472.81 this morning, pared some gains subsequently but remained in positive territory at 8,429.21, up 23.15 points or 0.28% from the previous close.
- Renault experienced a nearly 3% increase in value following reports indicating that France and Germany are advancing a new initiative aimed at revitalising the automotive sector.
- Orange experienced an increase exceeding 4%. Shares of telecommunications operator Orange experienced a 4% increase following the company’s revision of its annual profit forecast.
- Capgemini experienced an increase of 3.7%, while Thales saw an advancement of 3.2%. Safran experienced an increase of over 2.5% following the announcement of robust first-half profits and an upward revision of its fiscal year 2026 guidance.
- Accor, Kering, Danone, Stellantis, Pernod Ricard, and ArcelorMittal experienced an increase of 2% to 2.5%.
- Airbus, Saint Gobain, Publicis Groupe, Vinci, Bureau Veritas, and L’Oreal experienced gains ranging from 1.3% to 1.5%. BNP Paribas, AXA, Dassault Systemes, Euronext, Sanofi, Unibail Rodamco, Credit Agricole, Hermes International, and Bouygues experienced a moderate increase.

- Rexel, a French distributor of electrical products, experienced a decline of 4% even after revising its annual outlook upwards.
In economic news, French consumer confidence exhibited an improvement for the second consecutive month in July, as indicated by the monthly survey results released by the statistical office INSEE. The consumer sentiment index increased unexpectedly to 86 in July, up from 84 in the prior month. The reading was observed at 85. The survey indicated a significant strengthening in perceptions regarding the future standard of living in France. The balance increased by six points, mirroring a six-point increase in June.
