France’s benchmark index CAC 40 experienced a decline on Monday, with stocks across various sectors retreating under selling pressure. This movement followed the unsuccessful U.S.-Iran peace talks, as U.S. President Donald Trump dismissed Iran’s most recent proposal aimed at resolving the conflict. The increase in crude oil prices negatively impacted sentiment.
Iran stated that it will persist in employing both ‘the weapon of diplomacy’ and military resistance as deemed necessary to safeguard its national interests. The CAC 40 experienced a decline of 88.56 points, reflecting a decrease of 1.09%, currently standing at 8,024.01. Esmaeil Baqaei, spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, asserted that the United States has violated trust in every diplomatic engagement it has been involved in during the last two decades.
- LVMH experienced a decline of nearly 4%. Hermes International, Renault, Airbus, L’Oreal, and Kering experienced declines in the range of 2% to 2.5%.
- Safran experienced a decline of approximately 1.9%, whereas Saint Gobain, Eurofins Scientific, Eiffage, Pernod Ricard, and Thales saw reductions ranging from 1.1% to 1.4%.
- Vinci, Stellantis, Danone, and Capgemini exhibited signs of weakness as well.
