French stocks exhibited a varied performance on Monday as investors evaluated the situation in the Middle East while monitoring fluctuations in oil prices and bond yields. However, oil’s recovery from the lower levels constrained the market’s potential for upward movement. The market commenced on a solid footing, building upon recent advancements as geopolitical tensions appeared to ease following U.S. President Donald Trump’s assertion that no military action against Iran would occur prior to the midterm elections in the United States. Lower Oil prices and easing bond yields also contributed to the positive sentiment in the market.
Oil prices declined amid optimism surrounding a potential energy ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine. Additionally, Trump’s declaration of a deal to procure diesel from Russia aimed at reducing fuel prices has shifted some blame onto Ukraine for the ongoing war and the resultant energy crisis. The yield on France’s 10-year Government Bond declined to 4.830% this morning before rebounding to 4.860%.
