The CAC 40 hovered near the flatline at approximately 8,687 on Thursday, following the previous session’s decline as investors maintained a cautious stance amid conflicting signals regarding efforts to achieve a lasting ceasefire between the US and Iran. Reports suggested that Washington and Tehran had reached an agreement to extend a 60-day ceasefire facilitated by Pakistan.
However, tensions persisted as Iran issued threats to prolong the conflict until the conclusion of President Donald Trump’s term, simultaneously dismissing his assertions regarding the US’s “total control” over the Strait of Hormuz. In light of certain geopolitical concerns, the recent US inflation data, which came in softer than anticipated, has bolstered expectations that the Federal Reserve will maintain its current interest rate levels during the upcoming September meeting.
