The benchmark CAC 40, which had risen to 8,097.24 earlier in the session, has now decreased by 3.45 points to 8,053.18. The French equities market is approximately unchanged Friday afternoon, with stocks displaying a varied performance as investors respond to the most recent set of regional economic data, while also evaluating the effects of the ongoing government shutdown in the U.S. Among the notable gainers, Edenred is increasing by 2.2%, while ArcelorMittal, Sanofi, and Accor are progressing by 1 to 1.25%. Additionally, Unibail Rodamco has risen by nearly 1%.

Stellantis, Airbus, Safran, and Legrand are experiencing moderate gains. At this time, Air Liquide has decreased by 2%, while Euronext has seen a decline of 1.6%. Orange, Bouygues, Danone, Thales, Veolia Environment, and Renault have experienced a decline ranging from 0.5% to 1%. According to data, France’s industrial production experienced an unexpected decline in August, decreasing by 0.7% on a monthly basis, following a revised drop of 0.1% in July. Output was projected to increase by 0.3%. Manufacturing output contracted by 1.6%, a sharper decline compared to the 0.5% decrease observed in the prior month.

According to data, the HCOB France Composite PMI decreased to 48.1 in September, falling short of the preliminary estimate of 48.4 and down from 49.8 in August, indicating that the private sector has contracted for the 13th consecutive month. Data indicated that Eurozone producer prices experienced a decline for the first time in nine months in August, attributed to a significant drop in energy prices.

The producer price index experienced a decline of 0.6% year-over-year, marking a reversal from July’s 0.2% increase. The index was projected to decline by 0.4%. In a month-over-month comparison, producer prices experienced a decline of 0.3%, effectively counterbalancing the 0.3% rise observed in July. It was anticipated that prices would decrease by 0.1%.
