On Tuesday, CAC 40 have entered negative territory, influenced by concerns regarding tariffs and the possibility of a U.S. government shutdown. The benchmark CAC 40 experienced a decline of 23.32 points, reflecting a decrease of 0.3%, settling at 7,857.55. The data indicating a rise in French consumer price inflation is also impacting sentiment negatively.

Publicis Groupe, Vinci, Saint Gobain, Schneider Electric, Bureau Veritas, Capgemini, and Edenred have experienced an increase ranging from 0.3% to 1%. Data indicated that consumer price inflation in France accelerated in September, reaching the highest level in eight months, driven by an increase in service costs, based on a provisional estimate. Where as –

  • TotalEnergies has experienced a decline of 2.4%.
  • Hermes International is experiencing a decline of 2.1%.
  • Pernod Ricard, Stellantis, Kering, ArcelorMittal, and Credit
    Agricole are witnessing decreases ranging from 1.3% to 1.7%.
  • Bouygues, Accor, Air Liquide, Eurofins Scientific, LVMH, Euronext,
    Michelin, AXA, and L’Oreal have experienced declines ranging from 0.4% to 1%.

A distinct official report indicated that producer prices experienced a minor decline in August, following an increase for the first time in six months during July. The consumer price index increased by 1.2% year-over-year in September, surpassing the 1% increase observed in the preceding month. Inflation was anticipated by economists to increase to 1.3%. Additionally, this marks the highest inflation rate observed since January, when there was a 1.7% rise in prices.

In September, consumer prices experienced a decline of 1% on a monthly basis, counteracting the 0.4% increase observed in August. EU-harmonized inflation increased to 1.1% from 0.8% in the previous month. In the latest monthly report, the HICP exhibited a decline of 1.1%, contrasting with a 0.5% increase recorded in August.
