Following a modestly positive opening and a subsequent decline, the CAC 40 has experienced a slight uptick on Monday as investors process earnings reports and regional economic indicators, while also anticipating the monetary policy announcements from the European Central Bank and the Federal Reserve later this week. The CAC 40 increased by 9.34 points, reflecting a rise of 0.11%, currently standing at 8,234.97.

Recent developments indicate a slight alleviation in U.S.-China trade tensions, as negotiators from both countries have established a preliminary trade framework in anticipation of the forthcoming meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping this week. U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has indicated that Beijing intends to postpone export restrictions on rare minerals and reinstate purchases of U.S. soybeans.

In economic news, lending to euro area households has surged at the fastest rate since early 2023; however, lending to businesses has shown signs of weakening in September due to escalating risks to economic growth. According to data, adjusted loans to households experienced a year-on-year increase of 2.6% in September, up from a 2.5% rise in August.

Meanwhile, the annual growth in loans to non-financial corporations has moderated slightly to 2.9%, down from 3% in August. Adjusted loans to the overall private sector increased by 2.8%, remaining consistent with the previous month. In September, claims on the private sector experienced a consistent growth rate of 2.7%.
